EJ is a Darumbal man from the coastal lands of Central Qld and his mother is from the Wulli Wulli people of the Burnett region. All of EJ’s content that he produces about his people are positive and contemporary. EJ Garrett is a multi skilled individual with experience covering community engagement, media and communication. In EJ’s previous professional life he has seen work across many fields including construction, community services, management, human resources and media. He has also performed many roles as a volunteer within the community and strives to continue his work with communities across Australia.

rebel with a cause
Rebel with A Cause is a four-part docu-series on SBS, featuring First Nations trailblazers.
EJ Garrett wrote and directed the 4th episode of Rebel with a Cause documenting the life of Birri Gubba Gungalu man Tiga Bayles. Tiga Bayles was pivotal in the establishment of Radio Redfern, 98.9 FM (Brisbane) as well as Triple A Murri Radio. He was also instrumental in the Aboriginal Land Rights movement in NSW.

EJ Garrett produced a 10 min documentary on Author Chelsea Watego's 'Another Day In The Colony' Blak Fulla Book Tour where they visited the communities of Zenith Keth (Torres Straits), Cherbourg and Cairns.
The documentary explores Chelsea's journey as she promotes her latest novel. The story reveals the positive impact the novel is having on First Nations Communities and explores the interactions between Chelsea and those who have read her book and heard her message.
